On Friday 7th February 2020, eight of our year 9 students took part in a Hate Crime Ambassador training programme at Bury’s New Kershaw Centre, along with students from several other Bury schools. The students were placed into mixed teams with the other schools and worked really well together. Each team produced some good work around the strands of hate crime (disability, race, religion, transgender identity, sexual orientation) – and also covered stereotyping, prejudice and equality. At the end of the activity the students returned to their own school’s group to work on their final presentation – Tottington High School’s team produced a piece of work on their given topic of religion. All our students got involved and got lots out of the day, and were all a credit to our school.
