WHAT WILL I LEARN ABOUT IN CWL?

CWL is delivered through the school’s Careers, Well-Being and Life Skills (CWL) programme. You will study a range of topics as part of the whole school CWL topic rotation and will also study and develop valuable skills in the careers and skills lesson that you will have weekly at Key Stage 3 and fortnightly at Key Stage 4.

WHAT WILL I BE STUDYING?

Year 7:
You will study six different units throughout the year:

  1. CWL – Personal Identities – SEAL (Social Emotional Attitudes to Learning)
  2. CWL – Healthy Lifestyles – Tobacco & Alcohol Awareness
  3. CWL – Career & Capability – Managing Money
  4. Citizenship – Diversity in the UK
  5. Citizenship – Community & Charity
  6. Citizenship – Enterprise

Year 8:
You will study six different units throughout the year:

  1. CWL – Relationships & Risk – Bullying
  2. CWL – Healthy Lifestyles – Body Changes: Puberty
  3. CWL – Career & Capability – Economic Understanding
  4. Citizenship – Rights & Responsibilities
  5. Citizenship – The Global Environment
  6. Drama

Year 9:
You will study six different units throughout the year:

  1. CWL – Healthy Lifestyles – Emotional Health & Drug Awareness
  2. CWL – Healthy Lifestyles – Sexual Health
  3. CWL – Career & Capability – Enterprise
  4. Citizenship – The Media
  5. Citizenship – Law, Justice & Crime
  6. Drama

During years 10 and 11 you will study a wide range of topics ranging from Healthy Lifestyles to Fair Trade and Sustainable Living. In addition, fortnightly Careers and Skills sessions will assist you when applying for further education and with revision techniques, as well as other topical issues.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SKILLS I WILL GAIN?

The CWL Programme will provide a range of relevant skills, as well as providing the knowledge and understanding to enable you to live a happy, safe, healthy and successful life.

During the Careers and Skills rotation you will also develop transferable skills that will support your progression through your time at Tottington High School and into further study.
