WHY STUDY SPANISH?

Spanish is a language spoken all over the world. There are strong historical, cultural and tourist links between Britain and Spain. Thousands of British people travel to Spanish speaking destinations each year. By continuing with Spanish, you are increasing your career options. In the enlarged European Union those speaking Spanish, will enjoy more opportunities than ever.

WHAT WILL I LEARN IN SPANISH?

You will continue to develop your language skills within three main areas:

Identity and culture :
Family, Friends, Technology and Free time

Local, national, international and global areas of interest:
Home, Town, Region, Social issues and the Environment

Current and future study and employment:
School, Post-16, Jobs, Career choices and Ambitions

WHAT ARE THE SKILLS I WILL GAIN?

You will learn how to speak, read, write in Spanish and understand spoken Spanish in a variety of situations. You will develop your knowledge of Spanish Grammar.

HOW WILL I LEARN ABOUT THIS SUBJECT?

  • You will practice the Spanish Language, speaking in pairs and groups.
  • You will improve your Reading Skills using different texts and completing a variety of comprehension tasks including translation out of Spanish into English.
  • You will improve your listening comprehension by regular exercise with audio material, hearing extracts of Spanish spoken by native speakers.
