Tottington High School is an 11-16 years mixed community high school positioned north of Bury, Greater Manchester, and serves approximately 900 students. We recognise the potential of all our students and provide opportunities that challenge their abilities. We endeavour to provide a high level of support, guidance and care to enable your child to achieve their potential. We truly are a school where Every Child Matters.
Welcome From The Headteacher
I hope this brief glimpse of our school via our website gives you an insight into the life of Tottington High School, our ethos and our vision for all our students.
Our Mission statement is…
We pledge, through respectful relationships, to ensure all members of our community are supported in taking responsibility for their own learning, to become ‘well-rounded’ and caring individuals, with the skills, attributes, qualifications and experiences to prepare them for their and our futures.
We believe very much in our school motto of “Excellence through Partnership”. Thus, we expect our students to get involved in the life and work of the school and to maintain high standards of interpersonal relationships on which these partnerships develop and prosper.
Our aim at Tottington High School is to develop to the full, the confidence, enthusiasm, abilities and talents of all students. Our team of teachers and support staff is well qualified, experienced and highly industrious. They are fully committed to servicing the needs of our young people. They take great pride in the success of students and relish the opportunity to help shape the future of young people. Students are well cared for and valued as individuals. They have many opportunities to pursue extra-curricular activities and additional learning experiences. We feel that you will be impressed with the positive ethos and culture of the school.
Our conversion to academy status has further enhanced the provision and quality that we are able to provide our young people. The ethos of Shaw Education Trust matches that of our own in placing the child at the centre of our work to ensure full life chances are there for those who are ready and willing to grasp them.
We would wish for our whole community of staff and students to reflect our core principles:
Respect for People | Respect for Learning | Respect for the Environment
We trust that you will find our school to be a place where you feel your child will flourish. We are a school with a very clear vision in the development of all our people, both staff and students, and as part of the family within The Shaw Education Trust, we are all determined to help develop “well-rounded and well-qualified” young people.
The information contained on our website will hopefully give you a glimpse of life at Tottington High School, but by far the best way to find out about us is to come and meet students and staff. Please feel free to attend any evening/school event open to the public and should you wish, please contact the school to arrange an individual family visit to view the school in action.
