SEND Information
Special Educational Needs and Disability
Our Commitment
At every opportunity we aim to raise awareness of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) with both staff and students in order to foster a shared understanding and acceptance of diversity within our school.
We strive to ensure that all students with SEND make exceptional progress, achieve their personal best and are included at every level of school life.
Quality First Teaching for SEND Students
Quality First Teaching (QFT) is the first step in responding to students who may have SEND at Tottington High School. Teachers are responsible and accountable for the progress and development of all students in their class, including where students access support from teaching assistants or specialist staff. QFT is achieved through appropriately differentiated learning activities and/or teaching strategies which carefully consider the individual learning needs of every student.
SEND Inclusion Team
The SEND Inclusion Team at Tottington High School is currently led and managed by Mrs Benigno (Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion).
Our SEND Advisor is Mrs Gale.
Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mr Moreton.
As a team, we are here to provide advice, guidance and support to students, staff and parents.
