Year 11 students have been issued with a booklet which contains their mock exam timetable, details of what to revise, useful revision websites, exam board regulations, and more. There is also space for them to collect revision strategies from their subject teachers and Year 11 will be encouraged to write these strategies in their booklet, and then they can use these strategies to help them to revise for their mocks and the final exams in the summer term.
This booklet is also available to download here:
Year 11 Exam prepration 2019 2020
Today on World Mental Health Day, thousands of schools, offices, companies and community groups were wearing yellow to raise vital funds for YoungMinds, the young person’s mental health charity. And here at Tottington High School we really got into the yellow-themed spirit with our #HelloYellow fundraising activities.
The day started with lots of staff turning up for work wearing yellow items of clothing, and contributing cakes ready for the cake sale later in the day. Then the students started to arrive and it was great to see so many of them wearing yellow, yet still looking just as smart as usual.
But it was break-time which really astonished us all due to the sheer number of students who made their way to the school hall to visit the food and gift stalls we had set up to sell our yellow-themed goodies. A yellow/happy-themed playlist (Yellow Submarine, Don’t Worry Be Happy, Here Comes The Sun, Don’t Stop Believin’… you get the idea) was booming out of the PA system and the atmosphere was electric. It was by far the biggest and most successful cake (and other sundries) sale we have ever had in recent memory, and the day’s organiser, our school’s mental health counsellor Mrs Andrea Hulton was bowled over with the support the event was getting. The school bell for period 3 came way too soon.
So we cleaned up, cleared up, packed all the stuff away and got back to business as usual. However, there were plenty of leftovers… so we did it all again at lunchtime! The people wanted more – and by golly, we gave it to them in (yellow) spades!
Later, Mrs Hulton couldn’t thank the staff and the students enough: “Just a massive THANK YOU for all your help and support with today’s fundraising. I was totally overwhelmed with all of it! To the staff who jumped in and helped out – YOU WERE AMAZING!!! (I was expecting around 20/30 students to turn up so was blown away!) The numbers of students who came, took part and donated was beyond my wildest imagination. I’d like to thank them all. My heart bursts with pride to be a part of such a lovely Tottington High Family!”
At the last count (although there will be a few more donations to be made until we get the final total) our fundraiser has raised a whopping £435 for YoungMinds. Here’s a selection of photos from the day:
