As indicated in the school calendar the school will close for the Christmas break on Friday 22nd December 2017 at 1:10pm. As in previous years the day will consist of a Talent Show and Form Group activities and will also be a non-uniform day, we are encouraging pupils to wear a Christmas Jumper this year.  The day is allocated as a Charity Day where the money raised will be used to support the school Pastoral/House System and the Charities that the school has chosen to fundraise for this year. We would ask that students help support our Charities by donating £1 for the Talent Show and £1 for wearing a Christmas Jumper.

For our non-uniform day, make-up and jewellery rules will be ‘relaxed’ but we insist on ‘sensible’ amounts of both and would also encourage students to be ‘sensibly dressed’ to meet the demands of the school day. Tops must not reveal mid-rifts or shoulders and should not be ‘low-cut’. Hair rules apply at all times.  Any student who we feel is not following these guidelines, will be sent home to change on the day or be kept in isolation.

Lunch will not be served on the day in the canteen but those students who receive free school meals will be provided with their meal during the two extended break periods that will operate for the day. Snacks and drinks will also be available to buy during the day from a ‘Tuck Shop’ organised by the House Team and students are invited to bring money in loose change for this.

The arrangements with the buses will also follow the arrangements from last year. The bus companies are unfortunately unable to provide a bus service for the school at this earlier time. As you can understand this is frustrating, particularly as we can do nothing about the situation. We would therefore ask that you make alternative arrangements for your son/daughters transport home. If this is not possible please contact the School Office by Wednesday 20th December. Students unable to make arrangements to get home will be supervised in school and we will ensure that the normal bus service picks your son/daughter up at 3:15pm.

The day promises to be an enjoyable end to the term for both students and staff and the school would like to thank you in advance for your support with this event. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that school re-opens for students on Monday 8th January 2018 at 8:45am for registration.

From all at Tottington High School, we wish you a very happy Christmas and New Year.

We are joining other schools in Bury in support of the Tesco Food Collection Fare Share Appeal. Through this appeal, charities and not-for-profit organisations in the North-West receive items of food which provide a lifeline to disadvantaged people in homeless hostels, domestic violence refuges, breakfast clubs, lunch clubs for older people, and drug & alcohol misuse rehabilitation centres.

Tesco have given us three empty containers which we would like to fill with long-life food items and we are asking for your help to do this.

We would really appreciate it if you would arrange with your child to donate one or more long-life food items which they can bring into school and deposit into one of the containers. In order to further encourage participation, we are using our school’s House System. Each trolley will feature the House name and colour, and the school will award House Points to the House which collects the most food.

The trolleys are in Mrs Pollitt’s room on the Gym Corridor and will remain there until 11.30am on Friday 1st December. We are asking for donations of the following items of long-life food:

  • Tinned Meat
  • Tinned Fish
  • Tinned Pies
  • Tinned Soup
  • Tinned Fruit & Veg
  • Cooking Sauces
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • UHT Milk

Donations will be kindly accepted until Friday 1st December.

Thankyou
